High-street Haul

Now, it may come as a shock to you, but an odd thing has been happening in Britain lately… It has been WARM! And, wait for it… SUNNY!! Amazing, I know. It probably won’t last for more than 3 days, but I thought that the majority of you would have some kind of summer break booked in now and a little post on my seasonal ‘hunting the high-street’ could be quite handy. This post is about the best items available this summer for those of us who can’t afford the Moschino tees and Gucci shades, without compromising on style…

Okay, for a starters, anyone that knows me well enough will know that I believe the shape of clothes is just as important as their design; if a piece is the wrong shape for you, no matter how beautiful it is, you shouldn’t buy it. Many high-street brands cater for a slim, tall figure because this is what models are, but, in actual fact, this makes it very difficult for most real women to find clothes that fit well. I’m only 16, for example, and I need a size 12 in Topshop to get any trousers to fit over my hips – it’s a little ridiculous to say the least. Anyway, this summer, I’ve seen so many stripes in the shops, as well as ‘apron’ cuts and pops of citrus colours. A handful of these SS16 trends inspired my choices when it came to picking out clothes for the holiday season – take a look below to find out more! And if you’re interested in where any pieces came from, simply scroll over the photographs for more information.

What do you think? Are there any items you’ve absolutely fallen in love with this summer? What are your holiday essentials?

Spring ’16: The High-street Edit

Although it still feels a little nippy at times here in Britain, we are beginning to see the very first glimpses of warmer weather. By that I mean: the other day I was actually able to go out WITHOUT a scarf on… (If you live in the UK you’ll understand it’s a very rare occasion.) Being British, sun and warmth is a treat to us; we jump at the opportunity to wear some shorts or even a t-shirt. And, oh boy, do the shops know that… All it took was a sunshine-filled weekend and BAM every high-street store has their spring pieces in the window! Just like you guys, I’m super excited to shop the collections – but, instead of throwing yourself at the nearest tea-dress you see – I’m here to give you a little bit of guidance… Take a look at my picks below!

Spring 2016 Fashion Forecast

Yep, it’s that time again; that lovely, supposedly bright and fresh season when baby animals are born, flowers regrow and we ourselves are rejuvenated. Supposedly. In reality, it’s usually incredibly rainy, we are tired of eating salads and trying to go to the gym and spring becomes a bit of a “nothing” season. Well, let me tell you now; not this year ladies!

Spring 2016 may not bring you the promised change in weather, but it sure will bring you the promised change in all things fashion. With a few slightly altered trends transitioning from winter to spring and some TOTALLY new, it’s due to be a full-on start to the year! Below, I’m going to take you through all matter of these, explaining them and recommending how you can make them ‘wearable’… Have fun and, most importantly, get inspired!

Slogan Tees/Sweatshirts

First of all, let’s start with a brand spanking new trend; of course the idea has been around for many years, but this particular style sort of just jumped into fashion as soon as it heard the word ‘spring’. In line with the sporty movement of 2016, this sort of thing is for the fun-loving, laid-back amongst you all. Slogan tops look great with simple denim counterparts for a boyish feel. Uniquely created and full of character, these are easily found in vintage stores in just about anywhere. Or, if you’re more of a highstreet girl, Topshop, Zara and Urban Outfitters have this trend down to a TEE right now (geddit?!).

Blush tones

Fair, mauvey, pale pink tones are striking up everywhere right now, complementing the efflorescent , delicate textures of formal wear right now. Looks stunning on just about every skin tone and adds a hint of colour to any sophisticated grey/black toned outfit – what more could you want? Think re-worked pastels and you’ve got it spot on.

BIG earrings

Prepare for earrings to be made redundant as accessories and take the front seat in the queue. Not something to be barely seen; something to make a statement with – something for the experimental girl, the brave and confident one. Inspiration has come from the glamorous girls of the upper classes and tribal culture and places like Topshop and Accessorize are making this a simple fashion to follow!

Choppy, wild, ’60s hair

If you’ve not gathered yet; I’m a huge fan of the ’60s style coming into play at the moment; I love the idea of a doe-eyed, natural, Bond-worthy woman. It’s the definition of sexy in my eyes. Think Brigette Bardot voluminous waves and wispy fringes. This one’s for the seriously fashion-following youth; if you’re going to take a hair risk this season make sure it’s getting this style.

T-bars and straps

Another trend that has slowly creeped in, so much so that we’ve hardly noticed! But look everywhere, catwalk and highstreet and you’ll see straps of sorts all over the footwear. I suppose it’s in sync with the retro-loving sensation of fashion right now. Just browse the Doc Marten’s or Kurt Geiger site and you’re bound to find the pair for you; I’m lusting after the Doc’s Polley Shoe at the moment!

Croc Leather

As my mother says, a woman can NEVER have enough handbags or shoes. I firmly believe that bags and shoes are what make an outfit. Croc leather is a certainly a trend that comes and goes, but invest in a quality piece and it will see you through these fluctuations!  If you’re looking for a new outfit companion, take a look at Topshop and Zara, or even Mulberry and Vivienne Westwood, if you’re a lady of luxury.

Seductively sheer

One of my favourite micro trends of SS16 – dainty yet sexy; all slip dresses and sheer blouses. Well mixed with the lingerie-blending-into-clothing movement. As the days get slightly warmer, expect these lace-detailed, loose-shape pieces to be lining the shelves – relaxed figures are no longer something for simply hiding your body. But, while it’s still a little on the chilly side, don’t be afraid to pull on a turtleneck under that slip dress for ultimate fashion style.

Sweatpants

Sweatpants, joggers, whatever you call them; the classic lazy Sunday trousers. Not any more. Sweatpants, in keeping with the loose shapes trend have become something to wear out. Sport some luxe, light, hareem style sweatpants for a new take on the day-trouser. Kylie’s doing it, Rihanna’s doing it, Zendaya’s doing it – so why aren’t you?!

Trim detailing

This began in autumn last year when fashion began looking for a way to customise minimalistic pieces and BOY has it taken off. That plain white tee? Oh it now has a blue piping trim, darling. On just about any item of clothing, be it dresses, shirts, trousers – trims everywhere, to provide a little contrast; inject a little style. An easy trend for anyone to try.

Bomber Jackets

Obviously, bomber jackets have been around for a little while, but with recent gravitation towards boyish shapes and sporty looks, they fit right in with the fashion of the season. Every store on the high street is shouting about them and I doubt you’ll make it through 2016 without investing in one of these timeless all-weather pieces. Suede, zip-detailed, silk… Whatever your style, there’s bound to be a bomber jacket for you.

Oriental Prints

As we’re moving away from the darker days, here in the UK, I’m starting to notice the classic floral print moving in. Last year it was all about blown-up block colour florals and dark, gothic prints. This year, we’re going oriental. Intricacy in print and gentle tones; but still something you can make a statement with. Looks wonderful on trousers or shift dresses!

Trench Coats

As, I mentioned recently, I love the shape of wrap coats; they give anyone a curvy figure, no matter how much curve you really have and are just so classy. Trench coats are spring’s slightly lighter sister to the thick, felt, winter wrap coats we’ve been loving. They still give the desired womanly figure, but are a little more on the military side, which is oh-so-2016. Look to just about any high street or luxury brand and their bound to have their own version of this classic coat. My favourites are Hobbs‘ and La Redoute‘s!

What’s On My Birthday List This Year?

As much as I love surprises, I find that my friends and family whinge at me an awful amount if I don’t give them some sort of guidance towards what I would like for birthdays/christmases. Honestly, opening gifts that I have no idea what they are is much more fun for me than opening stuff which I’ve instructed people to buy me. However, I usually have to settle for somewhere in between. I’ve decided to share this with you guys because, well it’s my 16th in just two days and why the hell not! Now, I know that this is a stupidly long/expensive list, but the point is that I’m still surprised by what is bought for me (because to expect to receive all of it would be mad).

Earrings (I love the Lisa Angel ones)

After finally ‘manning-up’ and having my ears pierced this summer (which, by the way, was so painless, that I now want my seconds done) – I am obsessed with adorable little earrings. I’ve mentioned it previously – but simple, geometric shapes scream style to me. It’s not all about the glitz and glam when it comes to jewellery – although, as you’ll soon see, I have fallen in love with yet another pair of Vivienne Westwood earrings… Whoops.

Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Cleansing System

As I’ve gone into my teenage years, my skin has become more and more combination – dry but spotty! What a pain! However, I found out earlier this year (thanks to Neutrogena) that exfoliating actually does my complexion wonders, and I feel as if this would be the perfect product to assist me with my regime. It’s at the lower end of the ‘cleansing brush’ market, at around half the price of Clarisonics and Foreos. But, as I’ve discovered from the reviews, each product, no matter how expensive, has similar varied reviews. Some people love them, some people claim they do nothing but irritate their skin. So, if your going to give these pieces of beauty tech a trial, I’d suggest going for the cheaper option, such as this Olay brush.

Benefit Roller lash

I’ve had the teeniest tester of this (thanks ELLE Magazine!) for about 6 months now; I just can’t admit to myself that it’s practically empty. I love it too much. Giving my lashes the perfect curl, separating each one and and overall flattering natural look – I have never loved a mascara more. Personally, I’d put this over Benefit They’re Real any day.

Clarins Mission Perfection Serum

IMG_3946-copy-1024x683

Whilst trialling this when making another order from Clarins, I was stunned to see that it actually did what it was supposed to. I mean, you’d expect it to for it’s hefty price tag, but still WOW! It smoothed my skin and the evenness of my skin tone was like never before – for someone with such pale skin, this is a big problem for me. Hence, I’d love to treat myself to a high-end product, especially seeing as it’s my birthday.

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Fluid Blusher in Truth/Angel

daniel-sandler-watercolour-blush

Confession: I am actually AWFUL at applying blusher. One minute there’s too little on my cheeks and the next I’m looking like a clown having a hot flush. Bourjois Blush Exclusif helps me a little with this issue, but I think a super-blendable liquid blush could be perfect for me.

Topshop Cable Knit Scarf in Mustard

19R34IOCH_2_large

I am a rather avid scarf collector too – my favourite’s got to be my vintage Salvatore Ferragamo scarf, but it’s just not practical for winter – so I’ve decided I need a fashionably-tasselled, chunky winter scarf to add to the collection! And what better than a reasonably priced Topshop one.

Ecote Sherpa Gilet

5133331357223_001_g

I’ve always wanted a sherpa jacket – think classic aviator, but the camel tones and shape simply don’t suit me. So, I’ve opted for this mix of a sleeveless jacket and an aviator jacket in a wear-with-anything black shade. Also, it’s not RIDICULOUSLY expensive, like many other suede and sherpa jackets. And the sherpa is fake, so it’s animal friendly (which is extremely important to me)!

Vivienne Westwood Candy Earrings Light Topaz

Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 17.08.33

OKAY, maybe Connor did only just buy me one pair of gorgeous Viv Westwood earrings, but these are new season and they’re stunning! Gold-tones to suit super-fair or super-dark complexions and a modern ‘climber’ style – and at only £55 I NEED THEM!!

Next Crombie Coat in Blue

Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 17.34.42

I’ve been swooning over this coat for ages now, the colour just suits me so well and it looks much more expensive than it actually is (£65). Hopefully, people have got the message from my frequent stroking of this coat when I see it in Next stores that I simply cannot live without it…

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, Miracle Complexion Sponges and Stippling Brush

There has come a time when my Boots foundation brushes that I used when I was 12 to badly apply Dream Matte Mousse foundation just don’t cut it anymore. The MAC set which I received last year for Christmas has helped me with applying my make-up well, but I’ve heard great things about these three Real Techniques products in particular. I’d love to give a few of them a try.

Hollister Supersoft Knit Jean Leggings in Medium Wash

Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 17.39.51

Fact of life: I cannot wear jeans since I’ve discovered jeggings (aka the most comfortable trousers in the world). I practically live in my Uniqlo jeggings and Hollister jeans are of great quality –  so what better purchase to make than Hollister Jean Leggings?!

Mac Honeylove

94abbd42670dc2dc64cbc02755ad3fdd

I adore my MAC ‘Kinda Sexy’ Lipstick and MAC Subculture Lipliner which Evie bought me for Christmas last year (check out Ev’s new blog at www.evieoliverphotography.wordpress.com and Honeylove is a similar, but more natural tone for my ghostly pale skin. I need to keep searching for the perfect nude lipstick (the new Rimmel collection is on my hitlist too!).

A record player

maxresdefault-1

I love music and gigs, but I just don’t listen to music enough! I feel as if a cheap-ish record player and a couple of my favourite albums on record could get me dancing and singing around my room again.

What do you think of my selection? Do you have any recommendations?

And, of course I’ll be letting you guys know what I actually get for my 16th asap, but for now, I’m off to enjoy my last couple of days as a 15 year old…

October It List

It’s THAT time of the month again where I babble on about everything I’m obsessed with this month, YAY! (I bet you’re all thrilled, ha.) Have fun, take some inspiration, the usual and tell me if it gets too boring…

Geometrical jewellery/accessories

Recently in the jewellery market, we’ve been seeing new shapes and new ways to wear things popping up all over the place – one of my favourite stockists being Asos. Minimalistic yet different and so easy to wear. I’m liking everyday studs or Prada-campaign-style hairdos clipped in with a statement hair grip, like the one above. Try it out.

Left to right: Urban Outfitters Pearl and Triangle Front-to-back Earrings £7, Urban Outfitters Clean Hexagon Hair Clip £6.

Suede

Okay, this might be fashionable, but HAVE YOU STROKED SUEDE? It’s so soft and cosy, and I’m a sucker for both of those things. Honestly, I’d live in my fleecy Minnie Mouse pyjamas for my whole life if it was socially acceptable. Anyways, there’s also SO many ways you can wear this trend – just look above; bags, jackets, skirts. Go out there and get some of this stuff! (Zara have some particularly gorgeous items.)

Left to right: ASOS A-line Skirt in Suede With Zip Through Detail £30, Tan Suedette Shearling Lined Biker Jacket from New Look £44.99, Zara Fringed Suede Tote Bag £79.99.

My Little Box

55e6fe43e8d64

The reason I’ve discovered this little ‘monthly box’ company is thanks to the god’s of everything AKA Asos. These ‘monthly boxes’ are becoming increasingly popular with Glossybox and Lookfantastic boxes, to name a few. It’s like a little monthly gift to yourself; love it. This particular company specialises in delightful boxes filled with fashion, beauty and lifestyle surprises each month, such as those shown above and with an incredibly sophisticated French aura and a new ‘theme’ every month, it’s got me wanting one. £11 a month is a tad expensive for me, personally, but if I had a little job I’d love to treat myself to this. Check out the site at https://www.mylittlebox.co.uk/home

Rimmel Dare to go bare! New Nude collection

There is NOTHING better than a good nude lipstick, FACT. Some people are like “what’s the point your lips are ‘nude’ anyway” BUT OH YOU ARE SO WRONG!!! Think; we enhance our natural skin tone with foundation, it’s the same concept, only for your lips. So, as you can imagine, I was very excited to see that Rimmel, the best high-street make-up brand in my opinion, have brought out a new collection of nude toned lipsticks. (Thanks to http://popcornandpearls.net for the excellent picture showcasing the true colours of this collection.) I’ve tried the L’Oreal collection previously, but they’re just too drying for me –  but now there’s a new collection I absolutely have to get my hands on one of these. And at only £5.49 – who wouldn’t?! P.S. Boots are doing a promotion at the moment ‘Buy One Get One Half Price’ on selected Rimmel products – get it here.

Capes and Oversized Scarfs

Autumn, in realistic British terms means it could be 30 degrees or -30 degrees, there’s no telling what the weather will be like. So, what do you wear? It’s too hot for your full-on padded winter coats but too cold for just a cardigan or jumper. The answer? A cape. I am a slight cape-obsessive, admittedly, but they’re just so versatile, flattering and sophisticated. Going for a dog walk? Cape. Going out for the night? Cape. Appropriate for any occasion and like a wearable blanket, I love these things. Why not try some of this seasons capes in autumnal palettes like rust and mauve like the styles above?

Left to right: Orange Check Wrap from New Look £19.99, ASOS Knitted Cape In Multi-Block £30.

The Wombats
thewombats_wp

A couple of Sundays ago, I went to the Wombat’s gig at The LCR in Norwich with a bunch of wonderful people –  front row, OF COURSE, it was absolutely amazing. The Wombats are one of those bands who you cannot help but dance to, they create songs that can get you awake and smiling in an instant. Check out their stuff on http://www.thewombats.co.uk

Record Players

Okay, record players have been creeping back into fashion for the past year or so now, but it makes me so happy to be able to talk about it here! In the autumnal days, I tend to spend much more time indoors due to our typically crap British weather and, me being me, I cannot cope with silence. Almost like an adorable ornament and a bewildering music player in one, a record player would be perfect for playing some tunes on. Due to increasing demand, records and record players have become more widely available and cheaper, with the cheapest player at around £40 – rather affordable for a piece of tech. If you haven’t already joined the record player crew, I would bet money on it that you will have by this time next year! Watch this space.

Left to right: GPO Style Retro Style Vinyl Record Player from Not On The Highstreet £40, Crosley Mint Cruiser UK Record Player £100.

LFW Favourites

As many of you know, this past 7 days has been full of fashion, fashion and more fashion as London Fashion Week has commenced. It may be the SS16 shows, because fashion is always ridiculously ahead of things, but we can all take inspiration from it for our autumn/winter choices too. Think colours, cuts, shapes. I could honestly go on forever, as I am unhealthily obsessed with all things style and, to be honest, I probably have rambled on already. Still, I hope this gives you an insight into the trends this A/W and assists you with purchasing new items this year. Have fun fashionistas.

Alexander White

Screen Shot 2015-09-24 at 20.51.04

I have to admit, from being about 5, I have been completely obsessed with gorgeous shoes. I blame my mum for this bank-breaking trait. But just LOOK at these beauties! With a leg-elongating ankle strap and dainty yet dominating embroidery detail. Steal the show, in fact make your OWN show in these shoes.

Barbara Casasola

Screen Shot 2015-09-24 at 20.56.05

Gloriously minimalistic, with hints of this season’s up and coming trends, here we can see the cropped flare cut featured with an empowering two-piece suit. Supposedly ‘manly’-vibes eradicated with the low V-cut, you will simply radiate confidence in this outfit.

Cecilie BahnsenScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.03.35

In keeping with the favoured ’60s/’70s looks of AW15, I can’t take my eyes off of this creation. Pastel, vintage style, floral patterns partnered with an elegant chiffon shirt – another outfit centred around texture. But what real does it for me is the shocking pink of the eyeshadow and pixie crop, attention is immediately drawn here.

NegarinScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.23.07

Yellow is where it’s at right now, but not the easiest of colours for most of us to pull off. This vibrant tone of the trousers suits tanned or dark complexions extremely well, for those paler women, pastel yellow for summer and mustard yellow for winter is the way forward. Once again, make-up and hair is kept simple to allow the clothes to steal the show. This brand has styled some amazing looks – I strongly advise you take a closer look into Negarin.

Orla Kiely

Screen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.23.42

I can’t cope with how adorable this outfit is; shirts under pinafore dresses is such a YES and T-bar shoes match wonderfully well. Orla Kiely is notoriously print-loving, although for those less-brave fashionistas, maybe choose a pattered dress OR shirt, not both. Urban Outfitters and ASOS have some great collections of pinafore dresses to get you through AW15.

Paul SmithScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.24.46

Paul Smith, a family favourite – these dungarees are like no other. A contemporary cut, yet so practical and boyish is always in style. Silky and smooth, this outfit just flows. Let’s not forget the statement earring and bushy brows –  this can liven up any outfit.

Regina PyoScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.26.42

There is so much I like about this outfit, I’m unsure where to begin! Um… The boots, the so dubbed ‘sock-boots’ that fit tightly around the ankle area look best with dresses and skirts. This dress itself is like a cool-camo/leaf print, which is perfectly suited to autumn. Finally the open back, I can’t resist them, backs are the most underrated area EVER.

Renli SuScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.27.45

As you’ll soon find out, coats are MY thing –  if I could only buy one clothing item this winter, it would certainly be a coat. Despite this, the thing that actually drew me to this look is the colour combinations present in this ‘wall-paper’ style pattern. Mustard, rust, brown and navy – love vintage? Choose Renli Su.

Self PortraitScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.29.37

Having previously heard BRILLIANT things about this feminine, edgy brand, I was super excited to see their newest collection. A well-known creator of masterpieces and lover of lace, Han Chong, you genius. Just like many other label’s this autumn, Self Portrait have opted for mostly midi-length cuts. It’s super-classy and cute – I predict big things.

South Lane

Screen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.30.14

I’m not really a jewellery-changer on a day to day basis, personally, explaining why I hunt and hunt for the perfect staple pieces (oh, Tiffany key, I love you). This particular South Lane watch screams class, yet day-to-day wearability at me. You won’t forget this fashionable wrist wear brand.

Topshop UniqueScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.31.06

As overpriced as I believe Topshop can be at times, I can’t help but fall in love with their ability to style great looks. Spots? Yep… Stripes? Yep… Spots AND stripes? YES PLEASE!! Apart from this model being totally stunning in the looks department, I am also a great fan of the matching shoes and lipstick combo. Covered up, yet far from shapeless, this is a fun work look for all.

Molly GoddardScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.22.39

I’m in love with the length and bell-sleeves detail of this dress; it’s very similar to Topshop’s Bell-Sleeve dress. As well as that, some proper Swedish clogs have been on my wish list for FOREVER, however some as colourful as these seen at Molly Goddard are most definitely meant for the fashion-fearless.

Martine JalgaardScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.21.03

An unusually shaped version of a winter classic; the woollen dress. The shape alone gives this piece such a unique twist, there is simply no need for patter or colour. Extremely wearable for all, I expect some high-street dupes to be appearing very soon!

Lucilla GrayScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.20.24

Alternatively structured, this is a total stand-out party piece. Angular styles and geometry is an arising trend in the fashion world at the moment; for example, take a look at Accessorize’s new jewellery collection. This shape would suit boyish, slim figures best. But you sure don’t have to be a certain shape to take inspiration and style it your way!

Loxley EnglishScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.19.58

Somehow this, what seems to be a mishmash of an outfit, creates a enchanting reworked classic. Acid wash jeans, such a hard item to pull off, yet styled so well, the indigo contrasts the neutral tones and the ankle length crop is all in. Stylish trainers are wonderfully versatile, add them to your wish list immediately! Oh, along with that leather backpack.

Kitty JosephScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.18.26

Vinyl coats are just the thing to own this winter, they’re even waterproof! Waterproof AND stylish? This is a fashion first. These cool-toned colours make for a gorgeous winter palette, but the bright pink brings a necessary pop. I adore the fiery colour of this model’s hair, it compliments her porcelain skin incredibly well.

JosephScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.16.51

Those KILLER cheekbones, if only you could buy them too! Anyways, layering and ‘wrapping’ is always a yes for wintery seasons. Too cold? Just grab another layer! In addition, the lower legs seems to be the skin to show off this year – add a pair of trainers for the ultimate style; who said they were only for exercise? Check out Lacoste’s range or Superga trainers if you like these Joseph ones.

JH ZaneScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.15.34

This oh-so-cool combination of monochrome and colour-pop just has me in awe. A furry, teddy coat is the best thing ever in winter, believe me, I am the BIGGEST lover of fur coats (faux, of course).  A minimalist approach to hair and makeup really lets this outfit steal the attention and this is a very easy outfit to find a high-street dupe for.

IssaScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.13.51

Issa, one of K-Mid’s most favoured brands, and it’s not hard to see why. Who said white was only for summer -hey? Broderie, booties and bangles, this screams boho-chic. Yet, the high neck gives that summer-to-winter transition appeal –  an ideal work outfit.

FabitoriaScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.10.52

Bewilderingly modern, I have just discovered the sporty-chic brand that is Fabitoria (it even say ‘fab’ in it’s name, doesn’t that explain enough?). Most of all, I love the alternative cut of this top, Topshop have some very similar shapes this season if you’re looking for a high-street version. However, the notoriously sporty ‘slick’ of this model’s hairstyle is also coming BACK IN faster than you can say fashion.

ErdemScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.08.35

Ohhh, Erdem, you never fail to impress do you? The embroidery of this piece just bewilders me and monochrome can suit anyone. Concealing, but with tiny slits for ‘peeps’ of skin add it’s delicate yet seductive attitude. Also, playing with textures has resulted in these marvellously impractical, yet marvellously desirable feather, ankle-strap, pointed flats. Take note.

Christopher KaneScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 21.07.38

Texture is what it’s all about this season, hence I ADORE this material-focused combination. Perfectly sophisticated with the autumnal polo-neck, yet a flash of the lower leg shows off the beautiful trim of the lace and the all-in ankle-tie shoes. Who can go wrong with a mono-tone look? Christopher Kane sure knows how to redesign the classics!

Bora AksuScreen Shot 2015-09-24 at 20.59.27

Again the in-fashion lace-up sandals are so very flattering; a great complement to the blushing nude tone of this outfit. Once more, texture plays a large part in this outfit, the chiffon, the inscribed floral pattern. Finally, the colour I love the most in this style is the stunning auburn of this Bora Aksu model’s hair. SO AUTUMNAL; I want it now.

Let me know your favourite looks from LFW or any opinions on my picks!

What To Wear For An Interview

Seeing as myself and many others around me are just reaching the age where it is possible to apply to jobs, I decided that it would be a good idea to write a piece on what to wear to an interview (as clothing choice is right up there on the list of important things to think about, duh). So, go ahead, have a browse… (Warning, I may babble on for a bit first.)

This article is an advice-giving, but also advice-seeking article; you see, lucky little me has just managed to land myself an interview for a Christmas-work role in Norwich. Now, I’ve worked in a shop previously, but have never had to go through an interview process… I’ve done surveys, situation quizzes, online assessments, video interviewing and LOTS of form-filling; along the way discovering that applying for jobs is pretty exhausting, let alone having a job itself! But, I am sure it will all be worth it – you only get out what you put in. Anyway, typically of me, before thinking about question answering preparation, I am thinking A LOT about what to wear. Who doesn’t love an excuse for a new outfit?

Having done my research into the type of outfits actual sales assistants wear, I’ve noticed that dresses are the popular choice; particularly shift dresses and shoulders are almost always covered. Obviously it would be preferable to wear something that the store itself stocks, but I hope no-one will be ‘checking my label and chucking me out’ as such, so this isn’t vital. So, basically, I’d like to fit in with the dress-code, but jazz it up a little to stand out.

I have already scoured the internet and after failing to find a shift dress that actually went over my hips in Next (HOW RIDICULOUS), collected a myriad of possibilities that fit with both the store’s and myself’s style. Adding your own twist to outfits is a MUST, especially if you’re looking for work in a retail environment! Take a look at some of my picks –  what do you think?

An incredibly popular account for those who love make-up; selling mostly brand new 100% genuine makeup at incredible prices. Also, this account is brilliant for selling unused limited edition makeup ranges that have sold out in the actual store (i.e. MAC’s Cinderella collection).

I have to admit, this is probably my favourite clothing account on Depop. A Fred Perry Polo for £15.50?! Who wouldn’t want that?! Selling brands from YSL to Ralph Lauren to Nars, this UK account is literally my kind of heaven and clearly many people agree with me on that (she has 64k followers!).
